About This Site
The staff of the Arid Lands Information Center conceived of this
site as a prototype module for a "Deserts of the World"
web resource. Much of the original content, however, was developed
by Dr. Christina Kennedy from the Department of Geography and Public
Planning at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. The
purpose is to provide users with a complete overview of the complex
nature and beauty uniquely characteristic of the Sonoran Desert.
It is very much a work in progress and will change as new information
and data become available.
The intent is to provide information from the basic to the detailed
on all aspects of this desert, and to provide it in a structure
that is easy to follow. Many of the full-text documents were obtained
by gaining permissions from original authors. It also includes links
to other resources outside this site which were carefully selected
to provide for well-rounded coverage of topics and ideas.
Please feel free to contact us
if you have any questions about this site or if you have suggestions
for its improvement.
