Invasive Species

Once the work of controlling weeds is underway, the challenge is the restoration and reclamation of damaged land. It is important to select the proper plant species to replace the removed weeds, depending on the use of the land, such as rangeland for grazing or recreational use. Erosion control also needs to be considered since this is generally a serious problem on land that has been disturbed. Maintaining weed control is crucial while allowing the new vegetation the opportunity to become established. The goal is the succession of one plant community (native species) replacing another plant community (invasive weeds).
