Most people use the term “weeds” when referring any plants that are growing where they are not wanted, usually in a garden, a lawn, or an agricultural field. Though commonly used, the term is generally not applied when discussing invasive plants because it has so many different meanings to different people. Most people think of weeds having many of the same characteristics listed above for invasive plants, while invasive plant professionals tend to avoid using the term.
